In 2024 Flash Express is Thailand's largest integrated E-Commerce courier (Similar to DHL). I was able to get in on the ground floor back in 2019 and contributed to major projects that enabled them to take this profitable spot. This included the development of a vital app used by thousands of their couriers every day.

Creating a new fuel system for Thailand's largest courier.

The Problem.

When flash express began operations they used a system where all drivers received fuel credit cards which were to be used to cover fuel expenses. This solution failed as there was little opportunity for oversight and the financial data was difficult to audit. This made it easy for drivers to buy fuel for personal use and caused widespread corruption.

The Challenge

To ensure fuel expenses are accurately accounted for based on actual work-related mileage.
Eliminating the need for credit limits to prevent corruption, with a successful system credit limits should not be necessary.
To facilitate easy verification of actual fuel expenses incurred during work hours.
To provide real time tracking of expenses for drivers and the finance department.

My Role

Coordinating efforts between Procurement, Operations Training, and Finance departments to enable seamless collaboration.
Working with PT fuel stations to ensure the product works as intended and connecting our systems to ensure efficient transfer of purchasing data.
Contributed to drafting fuel card regulations and reviewed all three versions.
Training branches on how to use the new system.
Tracking and addressing issues encountered by couriers.

Outcome

Operations and Finance, can now easily monitor usage data in real-time, enhancing efficiency and reducing corruption. Additionally, employees can easily review their own usage through our application. Currently, approximately 10,000 couriers use the app everyday.

Adding new features to tackle backlog issues efficiently.

The Problem.

Occasionally backlog issues occur when a branch receives an unexpected increase in deliveries. This began to happen regularly as our market share grew. To ensure our customers receive their parcels in a timely manner we had to find a solution.

My Role.

I worked on this project from start to finish. This involved communicating with stakeholders, collecting requirements, communicating with dev teams, quality testing, training and rolling out to our staff.

The Outcome

We successfully implemented a streamlined process for branches to request additional part time drivers. This successfully addressed parcel backlog issues. This initiative ensured timely parcel delivery to customers, fostering trust and resulting in Flash Express currently handling approximately 1.7 million parcel deliveries per day.

Moving from paper to digital.

The Problem.

When I first started at Flash Express many of the processes were carried out on paper with no digital footprint. This caused problems with file management, tracking, auditing, and made it difficult to share information.

The challenge.

Documents from the procurement and finance departments were to be digitised. All related documents could be stored, with processing occurring through approvals based on monetary thresholds.

My Role.

I coordinated with the procurement and finance departments to identify manual processes and integrate them into the system.
Verified necessary data for recording.
Compiled a list of approvers for various requests. If an approver left or changed positions, backend systems were directly updated

The result.

All documents are now paperless and accessible within the system. Monetary amounts and approvers can be easily reviewed. Various departments can directly submit purchase requirements to the procurement department and receive timely access to resources.

During her tenure, Phatchayaphon was responsible for FLASH's OPS system, handling the entire process from demand research to system design, to translation to training, and her products were highly professional. She works seriously and responsibly, and solves problems efficiently.

JD Central is the Thai Subsidiary of the Chinese E-commerce giant JD.com, a fortune 500 company and competitor of Alibaba (similar to Amazon). I worked between crucial departments including finance, development, and marketing. During my time here I contributed to the localisation of payment methods to better suit Thai consumers, monitoring and managing finance systems and communicating with research and dev teams.

Diversifying payment methods for a new market.

The Goal.

When JD Central began operations in Thailand they initially offered traditional payment methods. Our goal was to diversify this as QR based payments are popular and widespread in Thailand it was important for us to include this system to ensure our customers can pay with as much ease as possible. And in turn increase sales and our user base.

My Role.

Collaborating with the customer service department to analyse surveys and address issues regarding payment methods.

We gathered and analysed current payment methods regarding user numbers to identify opportunities and prioritise tasks.

The Result.

More merchants joined the platform to sell their products, and sales increased due to more convenient payment options.

Launching flash sales to grow our market share.

The Goal.

Flash Sale is a promotional campaign featuring products from participating stores organised by JD Central to stimulate sales and increase product visits in participating stores. The goal for these events was to

Increase website visits, product detail views, and orders.
Boost the likelihood of product purchases.
Enhance store visits and product visibility within the store.

My Role.

Assessing if products met the campaign criteria and communicating with vendors.
Updating products daily and designing banner themes for display on the platform.

The Result.

Participating stores experienced increased sales and engagement during the Flash Sale period and in turn attracted more customers to our platform.

Managing issues for the finance department and working with devs to solve them.

The Goal.

Address issues such as delayed issuance / inaccuracies in receipts and tax invoices.

My Role.

Upon receiving reports of document issuance problems within the system, I would first assess the issue and conduct preliminary checks to determine whether it was a system issue or human error. If it was a system issue, I would coordinate with Developers in China to investigate and rectify it. I tracked the resolution progress and provided updates to stakeholders.

The Result.

The Finance Department can be confident in issuing documents accurately and promptly.
Merchants receive documents with correct and precise information.

In 2021, Jane joined JD Central to oversee the Finance systems, propose requirements that meet CFO teams’ needs, tackle problem-solving. She also initiated research and surveys of e-commerce customer experience to facilitate the development of a user-friendly platform. Her creative approach, patience, and sense of responsibility enable her to effectively solve problems, and ensure stakeholders usage of systems smoothly.
